About the Event

Supervisor Hillary Ronen has represented District 9 on San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors since 2017.  Supervisor Ronen is one of the co-authors of Mental Health SF, a comprehensive plan for reforming San Francisco’s mental health care system that was co-sponsored by Mayor Breed and unanimously approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2019.  Dr. Hali Hammer is the Director of Ambulatory Care in the SF Department of Public Health.

Mental Health SF will overhaul the City’s challenged mental health system and guarantee mental health care to all San Franciscans who lack insurance or who are experiencing homelessness. Mental Health SF will focus first on serving people who are homeless with serious mental illness or substance use disorders and will prioritize getting people off the street and into care.

“All you have to do is walk outside City Hall for a few blocks to see the shocking mental health crisis that is now a daily part of all of our lives. It’s the biggest crisis facing our city and working together is the only way we’re going to solve it,” said Supervisor Ronen. “With the Mayor’s support, Mental Health SF will change how San Francisco deals with severe mental illness and addiction.”
