Voter Guide for the 2024 Mayoral Election
RescueSF has prepared this voter guide to inform San Francisco voters about the mayoral candidates’ positions on the top issue facing our city: our continuing homelessness crisis. RescueSF is non-partisan, and we do not advocate for or against specific candidates. We are not making an endorsement in this year’s election. We want voters to use this guide to make better informed choices about how to cast their votes.
All five candidates answered our six questions about their views on homelessness. To help voters compare the candidates’ answers, we have broken down the responses into smaller parts. For instance, our first question asks candidates to share their strategy for ending homelessness in San Francisco. Instead of simply presenting all of the
candidate’s complete responses, which can be lengthy, we compare their answers on the different elements of homelessness strategy, such as prevention, encampments, shelter, housing, and behavioral health services. If, in our opinion, the candidate did not directly address a specific issue, we left the candidate’s response blank. We think it is important for voters to see clearly which issues candidates emphasized and which issues they did not discuss.
For readers who want a shorter version of the guide, we have also prepared a highlights document that includes some of the issues that we believe will be most important to voters.
For readers who want to see the candidates’ complete responses, we are also sharing their full, unedited answers.
In the guide that follows, our summary of each candidate’s answer presents the candidate’s verbatim text, sometimes edited to make it more concise.
